Door & Window Services

Repair, adjustment, hardware, and installation — the handyman side of doors and windows.

Sticking & Rubbing Doors

Doors that stick, rub, or won’t latch usually come down to hinges, the strike plate, or a swollen edge. We find the cause and fix it — adjusting, planing, or resetting — instead of defaulting to a new door.

Interior Door Installation

Slab and prehung interior doors hung square, trimmed out, and fitted with hardware. Pocket and barn doors adjusted or repaired where the hardware allows.

Exterior & Storm Doors

Entry doors and storm doors installed or replaced where the opening and frame are sound. Frame or sill rot gets assessed first — minor repairs run through our carpentry service.

Locks & Door Hardware

Knobs, levers, deadbolts, and handlesets replaced or installed and aligned to latch smoothly. Rekeying to match existing keys is locksmith work — we’ll say so when that’s the better route. Smart locks fall under our smart home service.

Weatherstripping & Thresholds

Worn weatherstripping, door sweeps, and thresholds replaced to close the gaps and drafts around exterior doors.

Sliding & Patio Doors

Rollers, tracks, latches, and handles serviced or replaced so sliders glide and lock properly. Scope depends on the door model and parts availability.

Window Screens

Torn or missing screens re-screened or replaced, and screen doors repaired where the frame is worth saving.

Window Hardware & Sealing

Latches, locks, and cranks replaced where parts are available, plus exterior caulking and sealing around frames. Broken panes and fogged double-pane units are glass-company work — we’ll point you to the right trade.

Repair First, Replace When It Makes Sense

Most door problems don’t need a new door. A hinge adjustment, a planed edge, a reset strike plate, or new rollers on a slider solves the majority of what we’re called for — in one visit, without ordering anything. When a door or piece of hardware really is past saving, we’ll say so and quote the replacement instead.

That goes for windows too: hardware, screens, and sealing are handyman work. We won’t sell you glass work we don’t do.

What’s Handyman Work — and What Isn’t

Handychief works at the door, hardware, and trim level: repairs, adjustments, hardware swaps, weatherstripping, screens, and door installation on sound openings. Some jobs belong to other trades, and we’ll tell you which before any work starts.

Broken panes, fogged or failed double-pane (insulated) glass, and full window replacement are work for a glass or window company. Rekeying locks to a single key is a locksmith’s job. Rot or structural damage beyond minor repair runs through carpentry — and if it’s bigger than that, we’ll help you figure out the next step.

Door & Window Repair FAQ

  • What door and window repairs does Handychief handle?

Sticking and rubbing doors, hinges and strike plates, locks and deadbolts, weatherstripping and thresholds, sliding door rollers and tracks, window screens and hardware, storm doors, and interior and exterior door installation.

  • Can you fix a door that sticks or won’t latch?

Yes — it’s usually the hinges, the strike plate, or a swollen edge. We find the cause and fix it by adjusting hinges, planing the edge, or resetting the strike plate.

  • Do you replace door locks and deadbolts?

Yes — knobs, levers, deadbolts, and handlesets replaced or installed and aligned to latch smoothly. Rekeying locks to match your existing keys is locksmith work, and we’ll tell you when that’s what the job actually needs.

  • Can you install a storm door?

Yes — storm and screen doors installed on sound openings. If the frame needs repair first, we’ll flag that before installing over it.

  • Do you repair sliding glass doors?

Yes — rollers, tracks, latches, and handles serviced or replaced where parts are available, so the door glides and locks properly. Replacing the glass itself is glass-company work.

  • Do you replace window glass or foggy double-pane windows?

No — broken panes and fogged insulated glass units are a job for a glass company, and full window replacement is a window contractor’s. We handle window hardware, screens, and sealing around frames, and we’ll tell you when a glass shop is the right call.

  • Can you replace weatherstripping and door sweeps?

Yes — worn weatherstripping, door sweeps, and thresholds replaced to close the gaps around exterior doors.

  • What information should I send to get a quote?

Photos of the door or window, a short description of what it’s doing, product links for anything being installed, and your city. Text it all to (850) 556-2900 and we’ll quote the project before scheduling.
