Handychief installs floating shelves, bracket and rail shelving, closet and pantry systems, garage shelving, and other wall-mounted storage — with the mounting method chosen by the shelving system, the wall construction, the available framing, the expected use, and the manufacturer’s requirements. Text photos of the wall and a link to the shelves, and we’ll quote it before we arrive.
Ready-made and modular systems, installed the way their makers intended.
Customer-supplied floating shelves installed on their concealed brackets and manufacturer hardware — carefully measured, aligned, and mounted using hardware appropriate to the shelf and wall. Some systems and locations call for framing; others for appropriately rated anchors — the shelf maker’s mounting requirements and stated load limits lead.
Standard bracket shelves, rail and track systems, adjustable shelving, and utility shelves. Bracket spacing and fastening follow the shelving material, the system’s design, the wall construction, the intended load, and the manufacturer’s instructions — not a one-size spec.
Wire shelving, modular wood systems, shelf-and-rod setups, pantry shelving, and customer-supplied organizers — ready-made and modular systems installed to their instructions. Custom-built closets and built-ins are a different craft: that’s our carpentry service.
Garage wall shelving, utility shelves, and heavy-duty manufacturer-designed storage systems — installed to the manufacturer’s requirements with a mounting method appropriate to the wall and the system. Capacity comes from the product and its installed configuration, not from us.
No two installations are automatically identical. Drywall over wood framing, drywall over metal framing, masonry, concrete, and other finished surfaces each take a different approach — and so do a display shelf and a garage rack. The method comes from the shelf design, the bracket system, the weight and intended load, the available framing, the wall construction, and the manufacturer’s requirements.
The honest version of the anchoring question: shelves should be fastened using a mounting method appropriate to the wall, shelf system, and expected load. Depending on the installation, that may mean framing — or appropriately rated anchors. Neither is universally right, and we choose per shelf, not per slogan.
A shelf’s real capacity belongs to the complete system: the shelf material, the brackets, the fasteners, the wall, the mounting location and spacing, and the manufacturer’s specifications for that configuration. We install shelving according to the product’s requirements and select an appropriate mounting method for the wall and intended use — we don’t invent weight ratings, and neither should a website.
Bought the shelves already? That’s the usual project. Have the shelves or system, the brackets and rails, the manufacturer-specific hardware, the instructions, and any specialty components that system needs — we bring the installation tools and appropriate standard mounting supplies. Missing or unsuitable manufacturer hardware gets discussed before installation, not improvised around; proprietary parts come from the manufacturer or retailer.
Send the complete list — several floating shelves, the pantry, bedroom and office shelves, a closet system, the garage wall — and we’ll plan a consistent layout with careful spacing, alignment, and practical placement, then quote it as one project.
This page covers ready-made and modular systems: floating shelves, bracket shelves, track systems, closet organizers, pantry systems, and garage shelving. Custom-built shelves, built-ins, and fabricated wood storage are carpentry — same care, different craft. Freestanding units that just need building belong to assembly, and the broader mounting list to home installation.
Walls sometimes bring surprises: damaged drywall, loose material, oversized old holes, unsuitable previous anchors, hidden obstacles, damaged trim, or unusual framing. If the mounting surface needs repair before shelving can go up, we’ll discuss that scope first — drywall repair is its own service, not an automatic inclusion.
From a stack of boxes to organized walls — the same sequence on every project.

Yes — on their concealed brackets and manufacturer hardware, with the installation method chosen by the shelf and bracket system, the wall construction, the available support, and the manufacturer’s requirements.
No — the correct mounting method depends on the shelving system, the wall construction, the intended load, and the manufacturer’s requirements. Framing is used where appropriate, and properly rated anchors or other approved methods can be the right choice in other situations.
That depends on the complete system — the shelf, the brackets, the fasteners, the wall, the mounting configuration, and the manufacturer’s specifications. We install to the product’s requirements rather than quoting a universal number no one can honestly promise.
