Handychief assembles IKEA flat-pack furniture to the product’s own instructions: beds, dressers, wardrobes, bookcases, shelving, desks, and storage systems — up to multi-frame PAX wardrobe projects. Text the product names or links and photos of the room, and we’ll quote the project before we arrive.
Flat-pack, by the book — from a single BILLY to a wall of PAX.
PAX, BESTÅ, BRIMNES, and other IKEA wardrobe and storage systems — multiple frames, shelves, drawers, doors, hinges, and interior organizers, aligned and secured to the wall where the instructions require it. No two PAX projects are the same scope; frames, doors, and accessories decide it.
BILLY, KALLAX, and similar shelving and storage units — assembled and wall-secured per the current product instructions, with the mounting method chosen by the manufacturer’s requirements, the wall construction, and the supplied hardware.
MALM, HEMNES, BRIMNES bed frames, nightstands, dressers, and wardrobes. Bed-specific detail lives on our bed assembly page.
IKEA desks, drawer units, office storage, shelving, and workstations — built, adjusted, and ready to work at.
TV units, cabinets, storage combinations, bookcases, tables, and the rest of the flat-pack living room — IKEA-focused here; every other brand lives on our assembly services page.
A bedroom set, several dressers, PAX plus bookcases, or furniture for several rooms — send the full product list or your IKEA order information and we’ll review the entire project together and quote it as one job.
PAX is the project people call about most, and the one where scope varies most: multiple frames, shelves, drawers, clothes rails, hinged or sliding doors, interior organizers, alignment across the run, and securing per IKEA’s instructions. A configuration that fits on paper doesn’t always fit in the room — ceiling height, baseboards, floor level, wall condition, and the clearance needed to tip frames upright all matter, especially for 236cm-tall frames.
Send your IKEA planner screenshot or product list, room dimensions, wall photos, and ceiling height, and we’ll tell you what your configuration actually involves before anything is scheduled.
IKEA furniture is engineered as a system, and the assembly system is the product: parts identified, hardware organized, the sequence followed, orientation checked before anything is tightened, drawers and doors assembled and adjusted, and basic function checked at the end. We don’t “improve” IKEA with extra glue, extra holes, or substitute fasteners — a modification happens only when it’s necessary, appropriate, agreed with you, and consistent with the product’s requirements.
Some IKEA furniture — dressers, wardrobes, tall shelving — requires wall securing per the product instructions, and that requirement isn’t optional. When the manufacturer requires wall securing, the installation follows those requirements using a mounting method appropriate to the wall and the product: the instructions, the wall material, the available support, and the supplied restraint hardware decide the method. If a wall’s condition doesn’t allow appropriate securing, we’ll explain the issue before completing the installation rather than skip the step.
Flat-pack occasionally arrives imperfect: a missing part, a damaged panel, a mis-drilled component, or two of one cam lock and none of another. We’ll identify the problem and explain exactly what’s needed. If a manufacturer-specific component is missing or damaged, replacement from IKEA may be required before the assembly can be completed correctly — a minor standard fastener can sometimes be appropriately substituted, evaluated case by case, never as a default.
Large IKEA pieces are best assembled in or near their final location — a fully built PAX doesn’t travel well. Before we arrive: a reasonably clear work area, boxes accessible, the room reachable, and hardware kept with its product. You don’t need to unpack anything, and hauling unusually heavy boxes upstairs is our conversation, not your chore — unusual moving work just gets scoped in advance. Minor positioning of the finished piece is included where practical; packaging is broken down and organized after assembly, with haul-away or disposal confirmed as part of the project scope.
This page is IKEA-specific. Furniture from Wayfair, Amazon, Costco, and other retailers runs through our general assembly services; bed frames of any brand have a bed assembly page; cabinets have cabinet assembly; wall-mounted shelving is shelving installation; and custom-built shelving or woodwork is carpentry, not flat-pack.
From a stack of flat boxes to finished furniture — the same sequence on every project.

Yes — send your PAX design or product list, room photos, dimensions, and ceiling height. The scope depends heavily on the configuration and the room, so those details make the quote accurate.

When the manufacturer requires wall securing, the installation follows those requirements using an appropriate mounting method for the wall and product. It’s a safety requirement, not an optional extra.
We’ll identify the issue and explain what’s needed. Manufacturer-specific replacement parts may need to come from IKEA before correct assembly can be completed.
No — keep the boxes, parts, hardware, and instructions together and make the assembly area reasonably accessible. We’ll handle the rest.
Minor positioning is usually possible, but large or heavy pieces are best assembled in or near their final location — a built wardrobe doesn’t travel well. Moving unusually heavy furniture gets discussed in advance.
