Handychief assembles and installs customer-supplied RTA and flat-pack cabinets — kitchens, pantries, garages, laundry rooms, and bathrooms. Some projects are assembly only; others include positioning, leveling, and securing per the cabinet system. Text photos and product links for a quote.
Customer-supplied RTA and flat-pack cabinet systems, built to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Base, wall, and tall pantry cabinets — boxes, doors, drawers, shelves, toe kicks, and manufacturer rails where the system uses them. Makers fasten differently — rails, brackets, or direct fastening — and the system’s instructions are the spec we build to.
Pantry units, tall storage, laundry-room, mudroom, and utility cabinets. Freestanding units are assembled and set in place; manufacturer anti-tip or wall-securing instructions are followed where required.
Base and wall cabinets, tall towers, and modular garage systems. The system’s mounting requirements, shelf ratings, fasteners, and your wall conditions determine appropriate installation and use — not blanket load promises.
Assembled, positioned, leveled, and secured where appropriate, with doors, drawers, and hardware adjusted. Sink and faucet plumbing is separate scope — see bathroom updates for the wider project.
IKEA kitchen cabinets: SEKTION and other IKEA systems are among the cabinet systems we work with. For IKEA-specific systems such as SEKTION, see our dedicated IKEA Furniture Assembly service — Handychief is an independent local company, not affiliated with IKEA.
Wall-mounted and tall cabinet systems are secured using an appropriate method for the cabinet system, wall construction, and manufacturer requirements — framing where required and available, a manufacturer suspension rail where specified, or a method suited to masonry and other wall types.
We review the mounting requirements against the actual wall first — and if it needs preparation beyond normal scope, we’ll say what comes before the cabinets.
Floors, walls, and corners are rarely flat, plumb, and square — so installation starts with a reference line. Cabinets are leveled, shimmed, and aligned within the limits of the cabinet system and existing room conditions. Send wall and floor photos with your quote request so surprises get discussed early.
Doors and drawers are checked and adjusted for appropriate alignment and normal operation. Adjustable hinges and drawer hardware are fine-tuned where supported by the specific cabinet system — different designs adjust differently, and gaps come in line within what the hardware allows.
Fillers, end panels, toe kicks, and trim included with the cabinet system are measured, cut, fitted, and fastened as part of the project scope. Substantial custom scribing, custom trim, decorative molding, and wall modification are separate carpentry work, quoted as such.
Assembly only — a freestanding cabinet, a buffet, or boxes being prepared for another contractor: built and left ready. Assembly + installation — positioning, leveling, joining, manufacturer-required securing, doors, drawers, and included finishing components. Tell us which your project is, and the quote gets defined accurately the first time.
Wall and floor condition, countertop plans, appliance openings, plumbing locations, and outlets all shape a cabinet installation — and standard scope doesn’t include correcting them. Sink and faucet plumbing, drain or water-line relocation, new circuits, outlet relocation, and countertop fabrication are not part of cabinet installation. Work outside the cabinet-installation scope may require another appropriately qualified trade or contractor — we’ll tell you where that line sits, and minor related handyman work can be quoted separately.
Have the cabinet packages, manufacturer hardware and rails, hinges, slides, doors, instructions, and any layout on hand. If a component is missing, damaged, or incorrect, we’ll identify what’s needed before proceeding — manufacturer-specific parts come from the manufacturer, not improvised substitutes.
Have an entire set waiting in boxes? Kitchen runs, pantry walls, garage systems, laundry rooms — send the cabinet list, layout, product links, and room photos so we can review the complete project and quote it as one job.
Packaging can be gathered and broken down after assembly. Haul-away or disposal should be confirmed as part of the project scope when you want it included.
This page covers manufacturer-designed RTA and flat-pack cabinet systems. Backsplash, hardware swaps, minor cabinet repairs, faucets, and range hoods live on our kitchen updates page; custom-built cabinetry, trim, and wood modifications are carpentry — we don’t manufacture custom cabinets.
Duration depends on the cabinet system, quantity, layout, and room conditions — the quote sets the schedule.
