Careful surface preparation, appropriate repairs before painting, and suitable exterior coatings for siding, stucco, trim, fascia, soffits, doors, and shutters — applied cleanly, with the property protected. Text exterior photos and the surfaces you want painted for a quote.
Suitable, properly prepared exterior surfaces — reviewed first, because not every material can simply be painted.
Wood and fiber-cement siding, previously painted siding, and stucco where appropriate. Specialty materials — vinyl, aluminum, masonry — get a compatibility check first: condition, color limitations where applicable, and the coating manufacturer’s requirements decide. Significant stucco cracking or movement is evaluated before paint; paint doesn’t repair structural cracks.
Fascia, soffits, corner trim, and door and window trim — cleaned, scraped of loose coating, sanded and patched where appropriate, caulked, primed, and finish coated. Wood is checked for deterioration before repainting; aged material won’t be sold as flawless.
Prep matched to the material, existing finish, condition, and exposure. Whether a door or shutter is painted in place or removed depends on the product, hardware, and access — decided per project, not by rule.
Appropriate exterior metal: cleaning, removing loose rust and coating, compatible rust-inhibitive primer where required, and a suitable finish. Paint doesn’t stop rust forever — severely corroded or perforated metal is a repair conversation, not a painting one.
Exterior paint lives or dies on prep. Depending on the actual surface, that means cleaning dirt and contaminants, removing loose and flaking paint, scraping deteriorated coatings, sanding rough edges, replacing failed paintable caulk, minor patching, and spot or full priming where the surface and coating system call for it — then letting everything dry before coating goes on.
The cleaning method matches the surface: appropriate washing, low-pressure or soft washing, or hand cleaning. High pressure can damage siding, wood, trim, and caulking, and drive water into places that need time to dry — full-scale exterior cleaning is its own service, pressure washing.
Loose, peeling, or poorly adhered coating gets removed, the edges feathered, and the exposed substrate prepared and primed — never just painted over. Recurring peeling can point to moisture, a failing substrate, or incompatible previous coatings, and repainting alone doesn’t permanently fix those.
Same rule for moisture: if a roof leak, plumbing leak, failed caulking, damaged siding, or a drainage problem is feeding the surface, the underlying problem should be corrected and the area allowed to dry before painting. Paint doesn’t waterproof a leaking structure, and a repaint isn’t mold remediation.
Paint should never simply cover rotted trim, soft wood, deteriorated fascia, or damaged siding. Damaged or rotted material should be repaired or replaced as appropriate before the final coating system is applied — and that repair-plus-paint capability, in one project, is exactly where a handyman service earns its keep. Larger wood repairs live on our carpentry page.
Failed paintable caulk is removed and suitable new caulk applied at appropriate trim joints, penetrations, and siding-to-trim transitions. Caulking is applied only where appropriate for the specific construction and coating system — weep holes, drainage paths, and manufacturer-designed gaps stay open, because “sealing every gap” causes the very problems it claims to prevent. Caulk doesn’t solve structural water intrusion.
Bare, repaired, stained, or otherwise appropriate areas are primed as required by the surface and coating system — a full primer coat suits some projects, but not every repaint needs one. Likewise, the coating system and number of finish coats are determined by the surface, color change, product requirements, and the coverage needed for the finished result — not by a slogan.
We schedule exterior coating work around suitable surface and weather conditions and follow the application requirements for the specific paint system — surface dryness, air and surface temperature, humidity, dew, and the rain forecast all count, and different coatings have different windows. Northwest Florida sun, rain, humidity, and coastal exposure are real factors in product selection, but no coating blocks all salt exposure, prevents all mildew, or makes a house storm-proof. Weather delays are a normal part of doing this right.
Older painted surfaces may require additional evaluation before preparation begins, particularly when deteriorated coatings must be disturbed. Tell us the approximate age of the home when you send photos so preparation can be planned appropriately.
Windows, doors, hardware, fixtures, landscaping, and walkways are masked, covered, and worked around with reasonable professional care. Brush, roller, spray, or a combination — the method depends on the substrate, coating, architecture, masking requirements, and wind, not a one-size sales pitch. Locked gates, pets, vehicles, and patio furniture are worth mentioning before work starts.
Exterior painting is preparation and coating of suitable surfaces. Replacing damaged or rotted material is carpentry or home repairs; cleaning exterior surfaces is pressure washing; and the inside of the house lives on interior painting, all part of our painting services.
Building size and stories, paintable surface area, substrate, current coating condition, peeling and prep requirements, wood rot and repairs, trim, fascia, soffits, doors and shutters, access and ladder requirements, primer needs, color change, the coating system, and weather scheduling all shape the project. For an accurate quote, send exterior photos and a list of the surfaces you want painted.
Duration depends on property size, stories, preparation, repairs, the coating system, access, and weather — the quote sets the schedule.
Photos, surfaces, number of stories, paint condition, and colors if chosen.
Repairs and moisture issues identified first — then the scope and quote, agreed up front.
Masking and coverings placed; cleaning, scraping, sanding, and caulking matched to the surface.
Agreed minor repairs completed; bare, repaired, and stained areas primed as the system requires.
Brush, roll, or spray to suit the surface, coating, and conditions.
Detail work completed, protection removed, work area cleaned, and a final walkthrough with you.

Appropriate siding, stucco, exterior trim, fascia, soffits, exterior doors, shutters, and other compatible previously painted exterior surfaces. Condition and substrate are reviewed first — not every material can simply be painted.
Cleaning is part of proper preparation where needed, but the method depends on the surface. Some projects use appropriate washing or soft washing, while others need different preparation — high pressure can damage siding, wood, and caulking.
Yes — loose or failing coating is appropriately removed and the surface prepared before repainting. If peeling is caused by an underlying moisture or substrate problem, that issue should be addressed first.
Appropriate damaged trim or wood repairs can be reviewed before painting. Severely deteriorated material should not simply be covered with paint — it gets repaired or replaced first.
No. Primer and the number of finish coats depend on the substrate, existing coating, repairs, color change, paint system, and the manufacturer’s requirements.
The surface must be sufficiently dry and conditions must meet the requirements of the specific coating system. Scheduling may shift after rain or when unsuitable weather is expected.
Timing depends on property size, number of stories, preparation, repairs, the coating system, access, and weather conditions. Send photos for a project-specific review.
