What We Paint Inside Your Home

From one accent wall to a full-home interior repaint — prep, clean application, protection, touch-ups, and cleanup.

Walls & Accent Walls

Single rooms, several rooms, whole-home repaints, color changes, and accent or feature walls. Prep and the number of coats depend on the existing color, the new color, the paint product, and the wall’s condition — coverage decides, not a slogan.

Ceilings

Flat, textured, and repaired ceiling areas, reviewed before painting. Water-stained ceilings get painted after the leak is fixed and the area is dry — and older textures that would need heavy disturbance may call for extra evaluation before anyone starts scraping.

Trim, Baseboards & Crown Molding

Cleaning, light sanding and de-glossing, filling small imperfections, caulking paintable gaps, priming where needed, and finish coats — clean, careful lines and a consistent finish. Damaged or rotted trim is a carpentry repair first, paint second.

Interior Doors, Frames & Closets

Interior doors, door frames, and casing, prepped to suit the current finish, sheen, and material — plus closet interiors and staircase walls where the project includes them.

Built-ins and cabinets are a different preparation and coating process — that lives on our Cabinet Painting & Refinishing page.

Surface Preparation

Floors covered, furniture protected, nail and screw holes filled, minor imperfections repaired, rough areas sanded, patches feathered, surfaces cleaned and de-glossed where needed, paintable trim gaps caulked, and bare or repaired spots primed — with stain-blocking primer where it’s called for. What each room actually gets depends on its condition, not a fixed checklist.

Some cracks tell a bigger story: recurring damage can point to movement, moisture, or failing drywall that should be addressed before paint. Small prep repairs are handled during painting; larger ones live on our drywall & ceiling repair page. Repairs are prepared, sanded, primed, and blended as closely as practical with the surrounding surface — texture match depends on the existing texture, age, previous coatings, and lighting.

Water Stains & Moisture

The sequence matters: the leak or moisture source gets corrected first, the area dries, damaged material is evaluated — and only then do stain-blocking primer and finish paint go on. Painting over an active leak just relocates the problem a few weeks into the future, and primer doesn’t fix roof leaks, plumbing, persistent moisture, or mold. If there’s suspected significant mold or ongoing moisture, the underlying issue should be evaluated before painting.

Choosing Paint, Sheen & Colors

Paint and sheen are chosen for the room: how it’s used, the existing surface, the look you want, how often it needs wiping down, the lighting, and moisture exposure where that’s relevant. Bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry areas may benefit from products designed for those environments — but no paint prevents mold or moisture damage on its own, and there’s no one sheen rule for every room. We’re happy to give practical input on color and sheen; bring your preferred manufacturer and color code, and paint pickup can be discussed as part of the project.

How Many Coats?

The number of finish coats is determined by the surface, the color change, the paint system, and the coverage needed for an appropriate finished result. If two coats are right, two go on; if the product’s system calls for something different, the manufacturer’s instructions win — the goal is the finish, not a slogan.

Protecting Floors, Furniture & Fixtures

Drop cloths, plastic and masking where appropriate, small accessible items moved or covered, and nearby fixtures protected — careful, professional protection of the space. Pianos, large sectionals, and unusually heavy furniture should be discussed before the project so moving is planned rather than improvised.

Painting an Occupied Home

For occupied homes, the work sequence can often be planned room by room to reduce disruption. The exact workflow depends on the project size, drying requirements, furniture, access, and the areas being painted — we’ll plan it with you up front.

Interior Painting vs. Drywall Repair vs. Cabinet Painting

Interior painting is preparation and painting of suitable existing surfaces, with small prep repairs included. Holes, damaged sections, larger cracks, and ceiling damage are drywall & ceiling repair. Cabinets are their own cleaning, preparation, and coating process — see cabinet painting. And when the outside of the house needs the same care, that’s exterior painting, part of our full painting services.

What Affects the Project Scope

Room size and count, ceiling height, walls vs. ceilings vs. trim vs. doors, the existing and new colors, surface condition, repairs and stain blocking, furniture and access, the number of colors, occupied vs. vacant, and the paint chosen all shape the project. For an accurate quote, send photos and a list of the rooms and surfaces you want painted.

Interior Painting FAQ

  • What interior surfaces do you paint?

Walls, ceilings, trim, baseboards, crown molding, interior doors and frames, accent walls, closets, and other appropriate interior surfaces.

  • Do you repair holes or drywall damage before painting?

Small appropriate prep repairs — nail holes, dents, minor damage — are handled during painting. Larger drywall damage can be reviewed through the Drywall & Ceiling Repair service.

  • Do you always apply two coats?

Not necessarily. The number of coats depends on the existing surface, the color change, the paint product, primer, and the coverage required for the finished result.

  • Can you paint water-stained ceilings or walls?

Yes — after the moisture or leak source has been corrected and the area is sufficiently dry. Appropriate preparation and stain-blocking primer are then used where needed.

  • Can you help with paint colors?

We can provide practical input on color and sheen. Customers can also provide their preferred manufacturer and color code, and paint pickup can be discussed as part of the project.

  • Do you move furniture?

Small accessible items can often be moved or protected as part of preparation. Large or unusually heavy furniture should be discussed before the project.

  • How long does interior painting take?

Timing depends on room size, surface condition, repairs, ceilings and trim, the number of colors, drying requirements, and overall project scope. Send photos for a project-specific review.

  • What should I send for a quote?

Photos of the rooms, the number of rooms, whether walls, ceilings, trim, doors, or closets are included, approximate dimensions and ceiling height, known repairs, desired colors if chosen, and whether the home is occupied or vacant. Text it to (850) 556-2900.
