Handychief installs and repairs the flooring most Pensacola homes run on — luxury vinyl plank, laminate, and tile — with the subfloor preparation, transitions, and trim that make a floor feel finished. Text photos of the room and the rough square footage, and we’ll quote it before we arrive.
Installed to the manufacturer’s requirements — acclimation, spacing, underlayment, and method per the product spec.
Layout planned, planks cut around walls and doorways, manufacturer-required expansion spacing kept, transitions set, and underlayment used where the flooring system calls for it. Water resistance varies by product — we install to the spec of the plank you chose, not a blanket claim.
Installed to the manufacturer’s instructions: subfloor prepared, expansion gaps kept, and the right underlayment for the product. Whether laminate suits a given room depends on the specific product’s rating and the room’s moisture exposure — we’ll tell you what the spec says.
Tile installed and repaired with the preparation the job calls for: substrate checked and prepared, layout planned, spacing kept consistent, cuts made cleanly, and grout finished. Prep and waterproofing methods depend on the room and the tile — not one recipe for every job.
Engineered and solid boards installed or replaced where the product and the subfloor allow — acclimation and installation method per the manufacturer. Full sand-and-refinish work isn’t part of our standard flooring scope; ask and we’ll tell you straight whether your project fits.
Not every floor problem is a new floor. Damaged LVP planks, chipped laminate, cracked or loose tiles where repair is practical, worn transitions, squeaky spots, and localized damage can often be repaired instead of replacing the room.
The honest caveat: localized repairs usually need matching replacement material, and even a good match can read slightly different next to flooring that’s seen years of wear and light. We’ll tell you up front how close the repair is likely to blend — and when whole-room replacement is the better spend.
A floor is only as good as what’s under it. Before installation, the existing surface gets evaluated for loose areas, squeaks, soft or damaged sections, significant high and low spots, and moisture concerns where relevant — and the preparation the product requires gets done, not skipped.
Two things worth knowing up front. First, removal sometimes reveals what the old floor was hiding — if unexpected subfloor damage turns up, that’s additional repair, and we’ll show you what we found and quote it before continuing. Second, flooring work corrects flooring problems: major structural or foundation issues are a different trade, and a new floor won’t fix them.
If flooring damage came from an active leak or an ongoing moisture problem, the source gets addressed first — plumbing, roof, or slab moisture is its own problem, and new flooring laid over it fails the same way the old flooring did. We’re not a mold-remediation company either: significant or suspected contamination is specialist work that comes before flooring does.
Flooring projects can include baseboard removal and reinstallation, new baseboards, shoe molding and quarter round, transition strips, and doorway finishing — when they’re in the scope, which the quote spells out rather than assumes. Trim work runs through the same hands as our carpentry service.
Removal of carpet, laminate, LVP, tile, and other existing flooring can be included depending on the project — it’s scoped and quoted, not automatically bundled. Tile and glued-down flooring in particular can take substantially more preparation to remove, and the quote will say so before work starts.
There’s no single best floor — the product’s specifications and the manufacturer’s installation requirements decide what suits a room. A quick way to think about it:
Popular for durability and easy maintenance, with many products designed for moisture-prone areas. Ratings vary by product.
A useful wood-look option. Suitability depends on the product’s rating and the room’s moisture exposure.
A durable choice commonly used in kitchens, bathrooms, and entry areas. Prep requirements vary by room.
A real-wood surface, with installation and environmental requirements that vary by product.
Timing depends on square footage, material, layout, removal, and subfloor condition — the quote sets the schedule, not a slogan.
